What We Teach

Rooted in Scripture, centered on the Gospel

This section is titled “What We Teach” because it represents the biblical convictions FBS leaders are committed to teaching. You do not need to agree with every statement in order to attend or pursue membership, but members are called to affirm the gospel, support the church’s teaching, and walk together in unity.

Our convictions are gathered under the four themes below—click a card to explore, or view the full Statement of Faith.

Patrick Lacson, Pastor

Leadership

Patrick Lacson

Pastor

Patrick Lacson serves as the pastor of First Baptist Church of Sonoma, where he shepherds the flock by exalting Jesus Christ through expositional preaching. He was saved during his high school years at Community Bible Church of Vallejo, California. He then married his college sweetheart, started a family, and pursued further training, earning his Master of Divinity from The Cornerstone Bible College and Seminary in 2020.

Over the past 27 years he has served in Bay Area churches in discipleship, youth, college, adult ministry, and has had the privilege of training men in India, the Philippines, and Northern California. His desire is simple: to exalt Christ and faithfully teach the Scriptures, so that God's people would grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Patrick and his wife, Lisa, have been joyfully married since 1998 and are blessed with six children. They are grateful to call Sonoma home, having been sent out in 2026 from The Cornerstone Bible Church of Sacramento, where Patrick was a member for 20 years and served as a pastor for 12 years. They would love to welcome you this Sunday.

Membership

What is membership?

Membership is a mutual commitment between the believer and a local church assembly, united in God's mission for the world: exalting Christ by making disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18–20; Acts 1:8). The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. For the believer, membership entails pursuing Christlikeness in fellowship with the local church by serving the saints with their gifts, evangelizing the lost, and submitting to the leadership of their pastors. For the church, membership entails caring for its members—with pastors held accountable for that care (Heb 13:17)—so that the congregation may grow together as they behold more of Christ (2 Cor 3:18–4:6).
